The Institute Agri-Health of the Hellenic Mediterranean University Research Centre (agro-health.hmu.gr) was established in 2020 with the vision to develop pioneer research in scientific topics of Life Sciences. More than 50 collaborating researchers have already been recruited, including medical doctors, chemists, biologists, pharmacologists, psychologists, nurses and nutritionists, forming interdisciplinary working groups addressing issues related to prevention and public health, therapeutics and health services, social work and psychology and nutrition/dietetics. The Laboratory of Biomarker Discovery focuses in identifying and validate Epigenetic/Pharmacoepigenetic biomarkers using mainly liquid biopsies, towards precision pharmacotherapy in cancer, metabolic and inflammatory conditions. Recently automated machine learning and data-driven approaches were incorporated in the pipeline for biomarker discovery.
